Busy schedules... ...I wrote out my typical day, but maybe you want to skip ahead.
Work - Coffee, stairs, knees-ooohh, computer, email, task list, timelines, Coffee, meetings, emails, phone calls, questions, work orders, new stuff, old stuff, confusing stuff and easy stuff, lunch. Nap sounds good. Coffee. What's left, restart the task list? Nope, there's that other thing first. Get this signed, scanned, check it in. Email to everybody what changed, what will change and when. Update projects for the new rev... ...Hungry. 5:00! Talk to people, cap the day. Computer. Mouse. Car Keys. Car, e-brake? Ugh rear e-brake is stuck again. Drive home anyway.
Town - Neon sign still needs fixed, people eating dinner. Good. Saw shop closing up. Red light? Green Light? Good. Bridge... ..sigh. I love this place. Mountains, trees, water, sky. Winding road, lost in thought.
Home - Long grass, messy shop, small wood pile, unfinished projects. Weeds. Dog is racing around the house to greet. Door is stuck a little - again. Open anyway. "DADDY!" Sigh. Crashing hugs, messy kisses. Happy.
Hungry, hmmm. Hunt for snacks - salty is good... ...but someone left fresh treats out. One will do, but three is better, tastes like more to me. Chair leaned back. Chitter chatter. What's after dinner? Mowing? Practice? Tired Toddler. Chatty Pre-schooler. Intelligent Young Lady. 3 to bed. Stairs, knees. Soft light. Soft pillow. Sore back. Forgot something downstairs. Knees.
What's tomorrow? Coffee, chores. Read and Pray. Work in mind. Pray more. Pray harder. Getting late, have to go. Listening to news. Lost in thought. Pray again. River. Bridge. Red Light? Green. Good. Parking brake. Not today. Windows? Sun or Rain? Lunch? Computer.
Stairs. Knees. Computer...
A thousand decisions everyday. Tens of thousands in a week. Throw in a few extra events with simlar decisions and I think I understand better why I need to take a day off. Jesus tells us that the Sabath was made for man, not the other way around. But it is hard to rest, when everything runs together... ...at least for me.
So, how important it is that I prepare for it before that morning! A heart receptive. Attitude humble. Lots of prayer. Sunday morning is a fight. All need readied, fed and out the door. Lots of problems. Lots of easy places to lose track...
